These systems provide non-contact, automated precision core pitch measurement of optical fibre arrays, MT ferrules (including multi-row devices) and V-groove boards. Measurement is both rapid and precise. Measurements on an 8 core optical fibre arrays can be made in only 8 seconds. The versatile new system routinely achieves image resolution of 0.07µ and positional repeatability of 0.3µ providing the accuracy and precision to ensure repeatable high quality measurements. Incorporating a highly intuitive icon-based Windows™ interface they are simple to use, even for untrained operators, yet maintains advanced automated measurement software to enhance operational versatility and productivity. For core pitch measurement of optical fibre arrays and MT ferrules light is directed at the reflective end of the measurement surface, the pitches of all the cores (or holes) automatically measured and the data printed out. The cross section of V-groove blocks is measured using back illumination in transmission mode under high-magnification. In these measurements the section under study is enlarged, the image digitised and the bottom angle, pitch and deviation from centre automatically derived for each V-groove. High resolution is achieved using a combination of twin laser interferometers and image processing techniques. A dedicated calibration gauge traceable to a national standard ensures the required accuracy.

    FZ-2000X Connector Measuring
    Designed to perform non-contact measuring of work diameters and eccentricity using advanced imaging processing, the FZ-2000X is applicable to MT, MT-RJ and other multi-channel count connectors. The FZ-2000X is an extremely simple system to use given its friendly Windows™ based operating system. Training time is minimal resulting in a quick time to operation.

    FZ-3000X Core Eccentricity
    The FZ-3000X is optimized for measuring the core eccentricity of optical fibers and ferrules for optical connectors. The system consists of a detector section where the ferrule to be measured is placed and rotated. A V-groove is installed in the detector section and the ferrule is placed into this V-groove and automatically rotated during measurement. The deviation at each rotational position is then processed as an image and the eccentricity relative to the standard external diameter of the ferrule is measured.
