By combining Moritex's practical experienceand technical know how in machine vision and robotics with our optics and fiber optics technologies, we have developed a family of automated alignment and production systems known as FOCAL. These unique and technically advanced systems are designed to perform multi-axis alignment, optimization and either YAG welding or UV curing of components for the production of electro optic devices and modules.

FZ-80 Align & YAG Laser Weld
First Optical Component Align and Weld System:
This customized FOCAL system aligns optical components to a laser or photo diode and YAG laser welds them in place while maximizing the coupling efficiency. Typical components that are aligned and bonded in this process include lenses, isolators, etc.

Second Optical Component Align and Weld System:
This system is suited for aligning and bonding of a second lens inside the package snout as well as alignment and bonding of an optical fiber to the snout.

Fiber-To-Device Align and Weld System:
Utilizing a unique fiber holder, this system is able to accurately position, align and YAG laser weld an optical fiber in line with a laser or photo diode. The fiber can be metallized thereby allowing it to be soldered inside the snout providing a hermetic seal.

FZ-80 Align & Solder Bonding
The solder based system is designed to take a chip-on-carrier + TEC substrate and align and solder it to the inside of a package. This system insures precise alignment and placement thereby increasing the coupling efficiency of the first and second optical components

FZ-78 Align & UV-Cured Bond
This system is designed to align and bond low and high channel count optical fiber arrays to a planar waveguide device utilizing a proprietary UV curing system. High resolution 6-axis alignment stages on both sides of the device coupled with Moritex’s unique active alignment algorithms provide the highest level of alignment and bonding precision available.
